KingCo Results
Redmond posts great results from the 2009 4A KingCo Championships held at Lake Sammamish Oct 22:
JV Girls win the 4A/3A/2A combined race with Kelly Weiss the overall winner. Kelly was followed closely by Lauren May, Kristen Klimisch and Andie Young (all in the top 10 finishers). Keep in mind, there were over 300 runners in this combined section.
Redmond placed 2nd (5th year in a row), in Varsity Girls 4A race, led by Devin McMahon who finished in 2nd place. Devin used her strength and poise to her advantage, tucking in with 4A state leader, Anna Dailey. By the final mile, Devin was unable to match Anna's 800m speed but held on for a praise worthy finish. Devin was followed by Redmond's Holly Young (11th), Jenna Sanders (15th), Hailey Jorgensen (17th)and Allie Nichols (24th). Congrats Redmond Girls!
Next up, Boys 4A Varsity was a showdown between many closely matched teams. The race was definitely tactical with a first mile of 5:13. 20 athletes remained grouped even through mile 2 where Mack and Will pulled away, with Miles in close proximity. In the final 300m Mack surged to win his first KingCo Championship. Will Young posted a seasonal best finishing a close 2nd, followed by Miles Hille (6th), Cotter Boyle (42nd), Max Dunn (45th) and Jonathan Stevens (46th). Strong finishes by our 4th and 5th runners made for a great upset over Skyline and a 2nd place finish at KingCo.
Ending the day was the JV boys race on a very muddy, now very slippery course. Of the 12 Redmond JV boys, 9 posted seasonal bests! Kevin Light led the way, placing 25th, followed by Billy Van Hoff (30th) and Jeremy Dance (32nd). Way to complete the season and a great day!
