Success at KingCo ...On To Districts

3rd place team scores at KingCo Championships for both the Boys and Girls XC Teams have qualified them for District Meet Saturday October 30th at South Whidbey High School.

Perfect weather conditions at Lincoln Park in West Seattle set the stage for one of the most competitive Cross Country Leagues in the State.  The last meet for the majority of the team, the athletes knew to leave it all on the course.

Toeing the line first was the JV Girls race.  Redmond was represented by a 20th place finish for Andie Young, followed closely by Rachel May (22), Maddie McGrath (23) and Monica Lopez (24).  Several JV ran personal bests on this course, ending their season on a high note.

Next, the Varsity girls showed a solid team effort against 2 time Team State Champions, Eastlake. The girls did their best to run as a pack and close strongly. Kelsey Dunn held position in the front pack for the first 2 miles. The ultimate winner, Chandler Olson (Woodinville) set a record breaking pace eventually stringing out the front pack.  Kelsey Dunn finished 12th followed by Holly Young, 13th, Lila Rice, 18th, Jenna Sanders 19th and Allie Nichols, 21st.  Kate Wagner - 32nd place finish and Lauren May - 42nd. Both Kelsey and Holly earned 2nd Team All KingCo recognition.

Redmond Cross Country boasts a three year individual KingCo Champion streak as well as incredible team performances each year in the Boys Varsity Championship.  Miles Hille and Johnathan Stevens held great positions for the first two miles, with the rest of the pack 30+ seconds back. After mile 2, there was a lead pack shift with Johnathan sitting in 1st with 400m to go. His early moved was answered by Skylines' Kyle Branch, resulting in an "at the line" 3rd place finish. Miles finished 6th with team scorers Zach Kirwan 20th, Max Dunn 24th and Jack Crawford 42nd. Cotter Boyle - 54th and Billy Van Hoff - 56th. Both Johnathan and Miles earned 1st Team All KingCo.

The weather continued to hold for the 2 boys JV races.  The fields were huge in both races, a testament to the growing popularity of Cross Country.  It was incredible to see the efforts put forth by the JV boys as almost every one posted seasonal best times. Eric Keenan, Matthew Aultmann and Lex Mundell earned alternate spots for preceeding meets with 48th, 59th and 69th place finishes respectively.
