This week's Nike Pre-Nationals Team of the Week is Redmond High School of Redmond, Washington, home of the Mustangs! Redmond High School is located atop Education Hill in Redmond. The high school moved to a new building in 2003 and starting next year, the school will include freshman to the high school.
Coached by Denis Villeneuve, the girls placed third in State and the boys finished eleventh at State (large school 4A). The boy's return four of their top five finishers from the State Meet team. Senior Johnathan Stevens (16:12) and junior Zach Kirwan (16:31) look to lead the team. The girl's return five of the seven runners from last year's team. Sophomore Megan LeGresley (18:22) and Kelsey Dunn (18:41) lead a solid returning team.
During the summer the team starts meeting in July and have a captain's retreat in Central Washington in August. The team also have "Fun Fridays" where they play games and do activities like the "Smoothie Runs." During the season the team alternates weekly Friday Night Pasta Feeds and Saturday Morning Pancake Feeds.
Please join Redmond High School at Nike Pre-Nationals on September 29, 2012 at the Portland Meadows Race Track, home of the Nike Cross National Meet later in December. With hay bales, famous 'whoop-dee-doos, Nike athletes in attendance, music and plenty of awards for athletes and teams, Nike Pre-Nationals aims to make for a memorable high school experience.
